In early August 2024, classrooms in Depok came alive as volunteers from different educational institutions gathered for the Safe Education Training, organized by BPBD DKI Jakarta and USAID Kuat. The atmosphere was warm and full of smiles, reminding everyone that preparedness is not just theory but a shared movement. Each participant arrived with a spirit of collaboration; because facing disasters means protecting and empowering one another.

One memorable moment came when Nandha Julistya from Pelangi Eka Nusa shared her knowledge in a unique way: reading aloud from illustrated children’s storybooks. This simple yet powerful method delivered preparedness messages through imagination, illustrations, and curiosity. Volunteers were invited to experience firsthand how literacy can bridge knowledge and empathy.

The three-day training, from August 5–7, 2024, became a space for learning and networking. Participants gained not only technical skills but also moral encouragement to spread disaster safety awareness in their educational institutions and communities. With small yet meaningful steps, they are collectively writing a new story of education that protects and empowers life.
